Community Fly-In

No Agenda.
No Entry Fee.
Bring All Your Toys.

The Moses Lake Paramotor Classic is not an expedition. There is no guided route, no itinerary, no registration form, and no cost to show up. It is a gathering - pilots and families from across Washington and Oregon who want to fly the dunes together, camp under the Eastern Washington sky, and spend a few days doing what they love.

This event is family friendly and welcoming to pilots of all experience levels - new and experienced alike. The terrain is forgiving, the community is supportive, and there is no pressure to do anything beyond what you are comfortable with. Kiting in the dunes is just as welcome as putting in flight hours.

The Moses Lake Sand Dunes ORV area is the perfect setting to bring everything. Dirt bikes, quads, side-by-sides, RC planes, e-bikes, one-wheels - this is an ORV area and the whole family can play. The dunes are soft, the space is wide open, and there is room for everyone and everything.

We set a date in early September, share the camping coordinates, and everyone shows up. That is the entire plan.

What Makes It Great

This is not just a paramotor event. It is a full weekend in the desert with your people.

Family Friendly

All ages welcome. No experience necessary to attend. Kids love the dunes and there is plenty of space to explore, play, and watch from the ground.

New and Experienced Pilots

This event is great for pilots at every level. New fliers can practice kiting in the dunes in a low-pressure environment. Experienced pilots have wide open desert airspace to explore.

Kiting and Dune Play

The sand dunes are perfect for kiting practice. Soft landings, natural terrain variation, and consistent wind make this one of the best kiting playgrounds in Eastern Washington.

Bring All Your Toys

Dirt bikes, quads, side-by-sides, RC planes, e-bikes, one-wheels - this is an ORV area. Load up the trailer and make it a full desert weekend for the whole crew.

Community Camp Vibes

Camp together with pilots and families from across Washington and Oregon. No schedule, no pressure. Cook together, watch launches, swap stories around the fire.

Completely Free

No entry fee, no wristband, no registration. Show up, camp, fly, ride. This is a community gathering put on by pilots for pilots.

Moses Lake Sand Dunes

About three hours east of Seattle on I-90. Flat desert, open airspace, and terrain unlike anything on the west side of the Cascades. The dunes are the launch, the landing zone, and the campground all in one.

Camping Area & Launch Zone

Exact camping coordinates shared with confirmed attendees closer to the event date.

Why Moses Lake

Wide open flat desert with natural dune launches. No trees to dodge, no cliffs to worry about. September thermals are active but manageable for experienced pilots, and morning windows are calm and long. The terrain makes off-field landings soft and safe.

September Weather

Eastern Washington in September runs warm and dry. Expect temperatures in the high 70s to mid 80s during the day, dropping to the 50s overnight. Winds are typically light in the morning and build through midday. Plan your flying for the first few hours after sunrise.

Getting There

Take I-90 east to Moses Lake, exit toward the dunes. About 2 hours 45 minutes from Seattle, 3.5 hours from Portland. Fuel up in Moses Lake before heading to the site - the nearest gas is a 20-minute drive from the ORV area. High-clearance is helpful but not required for most of the access roads.

What to Bring

Your paramotor, wing, camping gear, and enough food and water for the trip. There are no services on site. Bring more water than you think you need - desert heat is real. A shade structure for the daytime heat is worth having. Camp chairs and a fire ring make the evenings better.

Date Announcement
Coming Soon

We will announce the exact dates for the Moses Lake Classic a few months before the event. The best ways to stay notified are our Instagram and a quick message to us directly.

Do I need to register or pay anything?

No. Show up, camp, fly. There is no registration, no entry fee, and no wristband. It is a community gathering, not a ticketed event.

Do I need to be a certified pilot to attend?

No. Anyone is welcome to come and enjoy the event - flying, kiting, riding, or just watching. You do need a PPG2 or equivalent certification if you intend to fly your paramotor. Non-pilots, families, and spectators are all welcome.

Is there vehicle access to the camping area?

Yes. The ORV area has vehicle access. Standard passenger vehicles can make it in on most of the access roads. We will share the specific coordinates closer to the date.

What if the weather is bad?

Eastern Washington in September is reliably good. If conditions are unflyable for a day, you camp, eat, and hang out with other pilots. It is that kind of event.

SEE YOU AT
THE DUNES.

No agenda. No fee. Pilots, families, paramotors, dirt bikes, and Eastern Washington desert. Early September. Details coming.
